MILLENNIUM PARK

Millennium Park feels like a giant attraction park for art and architecture lovers. Gigantic structures, some spouting water and others reflecting a distorted image of the urban landscape, have been installed across the park, while free concerts are organized at the impressive Pritzker Pavillon created by the famous architect Frank Gehry. This is where we want to set up our tents!

WICKER PARK / BUCKTOWN NEIGHBOURHOOD

You've got a 6th sense for all that is hip and artsy? Your dream is to live in the Mile-End or Brooklyn? Well, the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighbourhood should also be under your radar! This up-and-coming area of Chicago has been strongly influenced by its German, Polish and Scandinavian populations and is today inhabited by many artists and students who have been attracted by the neighbourhood's cheaper trendy galleries, boutiques, bars and restaurants.

CHICAGO BY BOAT

For those who didn't know (***cough***...us!), Chicago is located by Lake Michigan and crossed by waterways that allow boats to circulate in and around the city. Several companies offer cruises and boat tours from which you will get a unique view of the city's beautiful architecture and famous skyline. See what we mean in this video and understand why we'd like to rename Chicago "The Venice of North America"!

DEEP-DISH PIZZA

You thought New York had the best pizza? Well, get ready to debate! Chicago's deep-dish pizza, a ridiculous amount of toppings served on a thick crust that is up to 3-inch tall, will make you forget about traditional pizza! Stop by Pizzeria Uno to try the original Chicago-style deep-dish delight.

ROOFTOP BARS

Seriously, is there anything that beats sipping on a drink while sitting on a rooftop? Well...yes...but not when you're in Chicago! When a city's got such a mesmerizing skyline, the climb to the last floor is definitely worth it! Discover some of the city's best rooftop bars in this Gridskipper article!

MARKETS, MARKETS, MARKETS!

We love markets. They’re rich in color, smell, flavour and local culture. Plus, they’re the perfect setting to put in practice those bargaining skills that more than often leave us with an overpriced souvenir in hand. But hey, this is what travelling is all about!
