1. Being a HI member means participating in a movement based on the love of travel and its educational value, as well as on respect for nature, for other peoples and for other cultures.

2. Being a HI member means being part of a community of people who resemble each other in the sense that, just like you, they have all experienced the same feeling of discovery and of enriching themselves while travelling.

3. Being a HI member is to be able to meet other members during exciting evenings spent together and to share experiences with people who understand what you’re talking about!

4. Being a HI member is to benefit from the thousands of preferential rates available all over the world and even in your own backyard! Whether it concerns transport, restaurants or tourist attractions, you’ll find everything there!

5. Being a HI member means being part of a movement that, since 1909, has enabled the thousands of hostels across Canada and all over the world to welcome millions of travellers all seeking new sensations and discoveries.

6. Being a HI member means knowing where your money is being spent. Since the vast majority of hostels are not-for-profit operations, any surplus made in a particular hostel is reinvested to improve the quality of services offered to you and to future generations. It is thanks to the thousands of travellers like yourself who believed and joined the movement in the past, that you can today experience those unforgettable moments which are sometimes a bit crazy but which never include anything hostile!

7. Being a HI member means receiving the latest news about the Canadian and international network through our newsletter.

8. Being a HI member means using a network of hostels confidently and in full security, each in different surroundings, and taking advantage of discounts in each one.

9. Being a HI member means being entitled to have your say on matters! Every year, members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting and can therefore make their opinion known as well as learning all about the situation of the organisation. It’s not obligatory, but you have the right to attend!

10. Being a HI member means being part of a great bunch of passionate travellers and contributing to a splendid enterprise which will allow future travellers to realize their dreams just like you.

11. AND if you renew your membership from March 1 to April 30, 2012, you’ll get a $5 rebate on the price of a regular membership card and we’ll take care of all the mailing charges.
