At the Saint-Laurent Youth Hostels, we take the environment very seriously. The health of our planet can only be assured by the adoption of concrete measures and responsible behaviour towards the environment. In addition to our own very real desire to do our part, protection of the environment is part and parcel of the mission adopted by all the youth hostels of the Hostelling International - Canada network. Concrete Measures
A number of environmental initiatives have been undertaken by the Montréal Youth Hostel. For example, since 2004 the housekeeping team has been using new ecological and biodegradable cleaning products which are certified EcoLogo. The Youth Hostel is also turning all its light bulb into low energy-consuming light bulbs (LFC Energy Star) whenever possible and recycling bins have been installed on each floor and in all common areas. In addition, we are always seeking out suppliers who have the same sensitivity to environmental causes as we do.

A Sane Environment
The Youth Hostel also offers a no-smoking environment. Plants are located at various places throughout the hostel and we talk to them too .. yeah we love our plants.

Sensitization
The HI-Montreal staff works hard to make various ecological alternatives are available to travellers. For example, you will find all the necessary information on public transportation and car-pooling available at the hostel, as well as reusable grocery bags and coffee which is equitably and biologically produced (Equita).
